About 20 years ago, I found a book in the Portland, Oregon, Multnomah Co Library written by the English historian Burke about 150 yrs ago. He listed a number of early American Colonists who had been the sons of Wealthy English Landowners. Encluded was Francis Adams born 1625, the younger son of William Adams (1595-1664) and Anne Newport(1599-1658) of Oxfordshire, England. Francis migrated to America (I believe after 1665) and married Grace Thomas in 1670. Their children were Charles, Francis and Elizabeth (my Ancestor). Also listed were his siblings of which there were many, including Thomas (the ancestor of a woman I had worked with) who had migrated years earlier. There is no mention of Francis' middle name, no idea where the "Thomas" came from. I copied the information, but not sure were among all my records it is. The Burke Family Members who recorded hundreds of English, Scottish and Welsh Nobility and Land Gentry did extensive research and are considered by English Historians to be possibly the best source for Genealogy Research of those Upper and Middle Class British who settled in the Americans. I have both William's and Anne's Ancestors.Hope this helps.
