Thanks for organizing more of the Adams research for Barbour Co.While you are compiling info, please keep an eye out for information on the Scarbrough family which was closely associated with these Adams during and after the Civil War:
My gg gf Aven Scarbrough Jr. served with several of the Adams and Griffins in the CSA 39th Alabama Infrantry.Aven did not survive the war and his widow apparently was destitute after the war.Several of their Scarbrough children had been sent to live in other households in Barbour County by the time of the 1870 Federal Census. Most of those host families were returning 39th Infantry veterans including Fabian W. and Mazie Adams (hosting my gg gm Martha Jane Scarbrough) and John A. and Mary Adams (hosting Martha Jane's younger sister Mary Scarbrough).
You can get an introduction to my research on these associated Scarbroughs, Griffins, and Adams at my genealogy site on RootsWeb at:
I have a copy of Lewis H. Adams Jr's book "History of the Adams Family" (publ. 1981) and have not transfered much of the Adams information from that book into my own family file, but I cherish that volume as an introduction to the environment in which my Scarbrough's were living.I'll look forward to perusing your Adams research further.
