Al, thank you for answering, ponder this, it's abstracted.
1793 November, Thos. FORD, Hezikiah FORD, and William ADAMS are jailed for abetting etc John FORD in the murder of Joseph ROWTON. (what happen on the murder case? Evidently they all got off, see later)
WM ADAMS, s/o John ADAMS has indictment against him for attempting to poison Thos. FORD on the 28th of June 1808.
WM ADAMS, s/o John ADAMS found guilty and fined $40, granted new trial. Nov 1808 (poisoning?)
" Commonwealth vs William ADAMS s/o John ADAMS, on an indictment by the Grand Jury, etc etc.. "on their oath do say that the defendant is Not Guilty....is aquitted and go thereof without day." 6 March 1809 pg 234 ( Poisoning?)
Wm. ADAMS, s/o John ADAMS, to recover against Tho. FORD, the prosecutor, etc judgement satisfied 11 March 1809
I think this William, s/o John ADAMS, is the same one who was accused in 1793 in the abetting-etc of the murder of Thos. Rowton. Was John ADAMS(fa of bad boy WM. that died in ca 1797, the s/o William ADAMS that died ca 1769? Do you know? Or does anyone know? Also where did these people go? I know a William ADAMS went to Ga/Ala died think abt. 1856, he was supposed to be from Charlotte Co Va, I looked at him years ago.I believe my John's parents were probably dead by 1840 when he was in TN/KY, and others of the family were spread out, and that he looked, but couldn't find them. (family oral tradition. He was suppose to have gone trading with the Indians, and returned to find that the family had gone and left no forwarding address!)
I will keep looking, thanks again, Kathleen Gloyne
