Jack L. Martin died Jan. 1, 2010, in the VA Home in Norman at the age of 80.
He was born in Maud, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Burcha Martin on May 22, 1929. They moved to Tecumseh when Jack was seven weeks old. He grew up and attended school in Tecumseh.
He was in the Army during the Korean War, worked in the oil fields and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, as well as the American Legion Post 260 of Tecumseh.
On March 24, 2001 he married Leta Adams in Shawnee.
He is survived by his wife Leta; daughter Sharie Reed and her husband Ron of Seminole; step-daughters and their spouses Phyllis and Nels White of Norfolk, Connecticut, Linda and Bill Terry of Norman, Carolyn and Lynn Scism of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Lester Hey and Ray Flowers.
Services were held Jan. 4 at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
