Eulys Francis "Buddy" Slate, 44, a former longtime resident of Tuolumne County, died unexpectedly Feb. 14 at his home in Pierce, Idaho.
Mr. Slate was born in Lakeport, Lake County, and had lived in Tuolumne County for many years before moving to Pierce.
He was one of seven children born to Edward L. and Wilma M. Slate of Tuolumne.
Mr. Slate is survived by his wife, Phyllis Slate, of Pierce; four children, Thomas, 16, Dustin, 15, Dawn, 12, and Timothy, 10, all of Pierce; his father, Edward Slate of Jamestown; four brothers, Danny Slate of Kellogg, Idaho, Harvey Slate of Porterville, Melvin Slate of Tuolumne and Mark Slate of Cordelia; two sisters, Anna Montgomery of Sonora and Rosa Williams of Jamestown; eight nieces, Julie Townsend, Jessica Williams, Shelby Montgomery, Tonya Slate, Chrisha Slate, Renee Slate, Angie Slate and Gabrielle Slate; five nephews, Aaron Slate, Anthony Slate, Tyron Slate, Wiley Montgomery and Mathew Slate.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma M. Slate, grandparents, E.L. and Ora Slate, aunt and uncle, Lorene and Roy Anderson.
A memorial was held this past Friday in Pierce. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were handled in Pierce.
