I am trying to trace the lineage of Benjamin C. Adams who married Nancy Shoemaker in 1839 in Fayette Co. GA. There is a Nancy, age 36, living in Haralson Co. GA in 1860 with Cashwell Adams and a slew of children. These same children's names appear in the 1870 census living with Benjamin (whom I believe to be the Benjamin C. of Fayette Co.) and a Catherine Adams. But there is no Nancy and no Cashwell. In 1880, Benjamin is still in Haralson Co. living with yet another wife, Lucinda, and several of his olderchildren along with three new ones. Catherine is not the mother of the older children because she was born in GA and their mother's birthplace is listed as SC. Nancy Shoemaker Caswell was born in SC. I am sure all these Adams families are closely connected, but I'm not sure how. I am trying to find out what happened to Benjamin C. and Nancy between their marriage in 1839 and when Benjamin turned up in Haralson Co. 30 years later. I am also trying to find Benjamin's parents. Benjamin was born in SC around 1810. Any of this ring a bell with anyone?
