Re: Mourning Adams of TN

I have Mourning as born in TN in 1807 (one source indicates she was born 1806 in IN). Daughter of Rev. William Adams b 29 Jun 1780 in TN, died bef 1820, & Nancy Standiford. There MIGHT have been sons Labron, David & Jacob Adams in addition to daughter Mourning Adams (as well as other children). I have William Adams as the son of a Robert Adams, but the trail gets a bit murky from that point on back. This Robert Adams died in Pittsylvania Co, VA in 1783. He might have married a Mourning (unknown). He might have been the son of Robert Adams & Mourning Lewis, who you mention, or he might have been the son of a Nathan Adams, d c 1782 Pittsylvania Co, VA, who was in turn the son of a Nathan Adams. Or, Robert Adams, who died in 1783 in Pittsylvania Co, VA, might have been the son of another man altogether. I have looked at Capt. Robert "Old Robin" Adams, who was the son of your Robert Adams & Mourning Lewis, & was a Revolutionary War hero, & he died in 1783 in Pittsylvania Co, but I have seen nothing showing him having a son named William, who married a Nancy Standiford. I have this "Cap't Bob" of Robert Adams as marrying Penelope Lynch, & a second marriage to an unknown daughter of Zachary Lewis Jr. & Mary Waller. Very murky indeed. To top it off, there was a Jesse Adams, b c 1826 in TN, who was the son of a William Adams, b c 1796 in TN, & his wife Nancy, b c 1800. There is a connection between Mourning Adams, who was b. 1807 in TN, who married William Spencer Garner & moved to Newton Co, MO, & this Jessie Adams, who lived with his wife & family & parents in Newton Co, MO in 1860...but the dates are all wrong for Jesse to be the brother of my Mourning, & Jessie's parents are wrong to be my William Adams & Nancy Standiford, despite the fact that in this case two William Adams's married women named "Nancy"...
