My mother's maiden name was Adams, and you and I descend thru the same lines. My mother was the dau of David Andrew Adams, a brother to your Ansyl.
I have been researching this line for more than 17 years, but have really made little progress. The hold-up is David and Ansyl's father - also named Ancil. The earliest I have been able to find him is his marriage 31 Oct, 1838 at Madison, Jefferson Co., IN, to Sarah Ann Winterstein.
Census reports show him to have been born KY circa 1816. On your Ansyl's (full name Ansyl Monroe Adams) death certificate his son Roy, says his father was born KY. However, my David's death certificate states his father born IL. Those are the only clues I have as to where the father was born. Unfortunately for our research there were jillions of Adams in KY by the early 1800s.
Ancil and Mary Jane had quite a number of children then in the 1860s Mary Jane dissappears from the family and Ancil turns up in western MO remarried and with even more children.
