What county were the taxes being paid for? Doyou know where John Adams was living when he paid them. Wright H. Adams was a bondsman for the marriage of Wright A. Adams in Johnston Co. N.C. in 1834. Wright A. Adams was a son of Allen & Sally Adams (documented in a property transfer to Wright A. Adams). My ancestor (Wright H. Adams) was not listed in the 1830 census of either Johnston or Cumberland Co. He was 22 years old at that time and may have been still living with a parent. The 1830 census includes a man of the right age with the John Adams Sr. listing in Cumberland Co.. I have been researching this as I haven't determined how Wright H. Adams acquired the land on the Black River but I have found John Adams (Sr.) owning land on the Black River in the late 1790's and early 1800's. Bryant Adams son, George Washington Adams (named in will) named one of his sons, Green Hawkins "Hawk".
