I read the messages concerning the descendents of John Adams (born ca 1647) And Katherine Napier and how the various Nipper Adamses were named as a corruption of "Napier." I used to think so myself, but there is a big problem with this story. It is well documented that Katherine Napier, the daughter of Robert Napier and Katherine Perrin, was born on the 12th of October, 1700. How then can she be the mother of a man born about 1673? I think a much more likely source of the name might be the Nipper family itself, some of whom resided in Northumberland County around the same time as John (The Carpenter) Adams in the mid seventeenth century.
