In looking over this message board I see that you have done quite a bit of research on the TN Adcocks and thought maybe you could help me.
My husband's ggg-grandfather was Samuel C. Adcock b. 1801 TN the son of John Adcock b. 1754 Albemarle Co. VA (now Buckingham Co. VA).Back in 1955 some research was done by A.E. Adcock of Ellisville, MS.He was a great-grandson of Samuel C. and Huldah Breazeale Adcock.A.E. Adcock mailed the research information he found to each family member and we have the orginal letter he send out.He also put the information in the book "Adcock Kinfolds II" by Robert McClane Adcock. We also have a copy of this book. Our John (b.1754) was the father of 6 boys and 1 girl by his first wife (nane unknown). These children are as follows:
1. Stinson (Tenson) b. 1782 VA m. 28 Jan 1818 Morgan Co GA to Jency Hart d. 27 Jul 1857 Coweta Co GA
2. Johnb. 1783 VA m. 16 Sep 1814 Morgan Co. Ga. Sarah Laney McClendon d. 1852 Drew Co AR
3.Edmond(some say Edward) b. 1792 Va m. 1820 Ga. Elizabeth Parks d. 1865 Walker Co AL.
4. Pat (nothing known)
5. William (nothing Known)
6. Nancyb. 1798 VA. m. 20 Jun 1820 1820 Morgan Co GA. Samuel Tindol d. 16 Jan 1887 Montgomery Co. MS.
7 Samuel C.b. 1801 (age taken from tombstone) m. 23 Sep 1830 Greene Co AL. d. 15 Aug 1888 Neshoba Co MS buried Rattletrap Cem. Winston Co MS
This John (b. 1754 VA) applied for a Rev. War pension 3 times in TN.(Nov 1819; Aug 1820; May 1821).He was finally awarded $8.00 a month (certificate # 18533) was issued 2 Apr 1822.In his application he is 65/66 years old and was married a second time to a lady who was 31 years old and that he was the father of 5 children ages 13-11/2 years of age.We believe he died sometime between 1822-1830 because he wasn't on the US census for 1830.We don't know the name of his second wife or any of the five children. My question to you is by any chance is this John (b. 1754 VA) related to your John (B. 10 Sep 1758 VA).I have a copy of your John's application for his Rev. War service that he made on 11 Aug 1834 (certificate # 29841) issued 9 March 1835.You said that your John was a Jr. and that his parents were John Sr. (b. 1743 VA.) and Mary Carter. Are you saying that John Sr. was only 15 years old when John Jr. was born? You also said that Joseph Adcock who married Susan Cason was a brother to John Sr.Do you have a birth date for Joseph and Susan? Some believe that they are the parents of our John(b.1754 VA) but I find this hard to believe because I have seen Joseph's birth date as either 1725 or 1775.The 1725 would work but the 1774 is 20 years after our John was born.I've not seen a birth date for Susan. Also Joseph and Susan were suppose to have had 12 more children all born at least 20 years after our John.
If you could help with this and give me some sources for you information I would be most grateful. If there is anyone else who might have any information of our family I would love to hear from you.We have documented almost all of our information that we have and I would be glad to give my sources to you.Thank You, Betty Todd
