Daniel:Yes, I have seen the children listed, and in fact, Rachael died in Granville Co. in 1848. As far as I can tell if they left Granville Co. they only stayed for a brief time. Their two youngest children (I don't have my hx. with me as I work only once in a while, but I shall answer you from my home in the next week)Roland and Thomas had guardians for several years and then Roland moved to KY with his older brother David Y.I haven'tfound where Thomas moved. His cousin was my great grandfather Thomas and I have the information on him.Abner's older son, John C. married his first cousin - my William's daughter Elizabeth, and they built a house on Abner and Rachael's land, but later sold it and moved also to TN or KY (I'll let you know which).I have had much contact with Abner's and Rachael's descendants in KY, and I have a photograph of one of the descendants in the very early 1900's who visited here from KY or TN (my father said they used to visit, but he can't remember whether it was from KY or TN.
By the way, Mary Gooch who married Tyree Harris both moved to KY and died there, he in 1847 and she in 1850.So, the Mary Harris whom AmosGooch claimed a child by was likely one of the other 14 Mary Harrises in the area.Mary Harris, mother of Lethea, wife of my William died in 1828. The William Harris who was mentally deficient and died in the 1870's - it was stated in the NC Archives that his mother died in 187_.I have that, too, at home. I am fairly certain that Amos didn't father the child - he just didn't want his brothers to get his land - as they had plenty of their own.I have more information on that, but I will stick to info. about Abner and Rachael.
