To Eva Riley: Though I do not descend from the John Adcock who was in Buckingham Co., VA, I have done much research on the Essex County (+York+Rappahannock Co.'s),VA Adcocks of the 1600's and early 1700's. There were at least 4 Johns in very early 1700's (all related). They all moved out of Essex Co. between 1710 and 1743 - to adjacent counties, and by 1740's several were in Granville Co.,NC and this is about the same time they show up in what was later Buckingham Co., VA. Here is one clue that I have no doubt John of Buckingham Co. was originally from Essex Co. or his father was.(Edward Adcock of Essex was the Son of John Adcock of York. Edward married Elizabeth Smith in 1677, daughter of Toby and Phoebe Smith.Elizabeth had a brother named Henry.John, Power, and Henry Adcock were the sons of Edward and Elizabeth. Henry had at least two sons, John and Toby. This John had an uncle named John and an uncle named Burroughs. Burrow had a son named William. Uncle John married Mary Beland daughter of Joseph Beland and they had a son named Joseph and this Joseph Adcock. No one should doubt by these names where the Buckingham Co. Adcocks came from unless you have definite proof that they came directly from England and hopped over to the middle of the State in the early 1700's. Go to Tappahannock - plan to stay a week.Thanks.
