My ancestor Henry (1784-1855, m. Elizabeth Randel 1804) is a brother to your Rebecca - both are children of James Addington (ca. 1750-1800, m. Rebeckah Garret 1776).My notes say Rebeckah "may" have m. Ephraim Smith who d. 2/21/1827, and that he had sons Thomas 1814 and Lewis 1825, both born in Butler Co. OH.I know that Henry and Rebecca's father James owned land in Union District SC by at least 1784-1786, when the first deeds were recorded.I think he had left Loudon Co. VA for SC as early as 1772-1774, so I am pretty sure that Rebecca was born in SC, not VA.My information is that all of James' children were born there. Most of them moved to OH (then IN) with their Uncle John around 1806; he had been appointed their guardian per James' will, 1801.I just got back from a trip to Union Co. SC and have more info on early land grants, early maps, etc.Do you know the name of Ephraim Smith's father?
