The death of Richard Addis, the aged father of W. H. Addis, occurred this morning at 2 o'clock at the residence of his son, No. 463 South Water Stree. He was in the 83d year of his age, and had been afflicated with a complication of diseases for a number of months, begides being deaf and almost totally blind. He has found a welcome home with his children. He was a member of the Methodist church, and was a regular attendant upon the services until he lost his hearing.
The deceased was born in Warren County, New Jersey, August 10th, 1806. He moved to Illinois with his parents in 1826, locating at Pittsfield, Pike County. He was united in marriage to Sarah M. Davis at Pittsfield, moving to Fulton County in 1827. He has resided continuously in Illinois until 1868, when he moved to Omaha, Neb., returning to Decatur in January, 1888, to resume his residence with his son, W. H. Addis. He was the father of eleven children, five of whom survive. They are H. C. Addis, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; R. D. Addis, of Lincoln, Neb.; W. H. Addis, of Decatur, and Mrs. Ellen Calloway, of Los Angeles, Cal. The wife of the deceased died in August, '68.
