On Friday, March 3, 2006, Ruby Cochran went to her Lord and Saviour, at a local Beckley hospital, following a long illness. She was 78 years of age.
Born October 7, 1927 at Surveyor, she was the eldest child born to the late Charlie L. and Nora Clay Addison.
Ruby spent her childhood at Surveyor. A 1945 graduate of Trap Hill School, she has been a resident of the Sprague community on North Second Street since 1957. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie L. Addison; and three sisters, Viola Meador, Estella Reed, and Lamona Wood.
She was the beloved wife of William Donald Cochran for 45 years; devoted Mother of Pete Cochran of Oak Hill and Carol Bolen and her husband John of Beckley; loving grandmother to Randall Boyd of Beckley; and dear sister of Mildred King of Surf Side Beach, S.C., and Clara Robinette of Virginia. She had many friends and co-workers who will miss her.
