Beatrice L. Shehane "Aunt Bea " was my Mother's aunt, her mother's sister. They were daughters of William Robert Shehane , B.4/24/1840,Greenville District,S.C.,M.12/1/1862 and D.1/26/1905 , and Elizabeth Victoria Addison Shehane ,B.6/19/1846,D.2/5/1939(age 92)in Natchitoches, Louisiana.They were living in Notasulga, Ala. at the time of the Civil War,lost their plantation there during the war when William Robert was in service, came to New Orleans and then to Vernon Parish. "Betty "Shehane and William Robert were divorced and he stayed in Vernon Parish with their son Will , while she kept the other nine children with her and moved to Natchitoches Parish.The children were as follows:Annie Elizabeth ,B.9/13/1863,Ala.M.William Mark Noble 5/7/1885,and D.9/28/1924,had three children,Vera,Beauman and Ina; Bessie Lillian ,B.9/16/1867 ,Ala.,M.Jessie I.Ramsey 10/12/1901,and died 11/14/1904 ,had one son,J.P.,twins sillborn which resulted in her death ; Ellen Rose ( my lineage) B.12/1865,Ala.,M.(1) Rial Savage Noble 12/24/1893,(2) Elijah Bishop,1907,and D. 11/22/1935,Natchitoches, La. ;Matilda S. , B.1/8/1870,La.D.10/12/1873 ; William Addison ,B. 1/11/1872, La. M. Maud Newman ,and D.7/28/1931 ; James Reileigh, B.3/4/1874 La. ,D.8/16/1874 ; Donah Elmora , B.10/8/1875 ,La , D.8/4/1898 ( burned in home fire );Beatrice L., B.4/20/1878, La. ,M. John Dossen Moss 11/19/1896 , and D.6/5/1925 ; Guy John Martin , B. 9/23/1880, La. , M. (l) Lizzy Shoebrock , 1898 and (2 ) Addie Pitts , 5/26/1918 and D. 12/18/1950 ; Susan Maud , B. 3/8/1883, La. , M. (1) Frank Posey and (2) Charlie Jones , and D. 8/14/1905 . " Aunt Bea " and "Uncle Doss" lived in three box cars on the tracks where he worked as a supervisor of loading " Piney Woods " logs onto cars for transport to the saw mills.When he had completed his work in one area a train would hook onto their home and take them to another location.My Mother told me that she loved to visit them ,that their home was lovely and "Aunt Bea' always so gracious and so much fun to be with.They had three little girls, one of them , Ollie married John Adams and lived in Natchitoches for years. One other girl was named Ethel, and often visited us in Mansfield where we lived when I was very young.
