Hi Jay, thanks for your reply. The furthest back I have gone with my Heald line is to a James Heald born c.1750 who married Sarah Dewse born c.1754 in Dewsbury. One of their sons, John Heald born 1783 Ossett, married Ann Broadbent (born Notts.) The family lived in Ossett and then later moved to Knottingley, Nr Pontefract. I am descendant via their son William b.1813 Ossett who married Sarah Hobman b.1818 Knottingley. One of their daughters was Sarah Hannah Heald b.1851 who married my 2x great grandfather Tom Addy.
My grandfather was Herbert Addy b.1906 Knottingley, son of Lawrence Holmes Addy b.1880 Knottingley, son of Tom Addy & Sarah Hannah Heald.Tom was born 1852 Knottingley, the son of Thomas Addy b.1822 Knottingley, son of Richard Addy b. 1789 Knottingley, son of William Addy b.c1761 Knottingley/Pontefract who was the son of John Addy c.1730 who married Martha Burnett at St Giles Church, Pontefract in 1754.
My husband's Procter ancestors go back to a Benjamin Procter born c 1827 Bradford who then settled in Leeds.Occassionally the surname has been spelt Proctor on census records.I haven't done much work on that side of the tree yet though.
I have about 265 Addy/Addey surnames in my tree, 135 Healds and 50 or so Procter/Proctor's.
