Thanks for your posting! Here’s what the records seem to say about your family:
It looks like your great-great grandfather was John Adgate; his middle name may have been George, or folks may have called him George, but he appears in the census records as John. He married first Catherine Taft, with whom he had four children: Albert, Luana, Adaline and Chester. After Catherine died, John married Rosetta Briggs and had four more children. These kids were William, the twins, and Sarah (who died at the age of twelve). The twins appear in the census records as Philo and Milo, although Philo may well have been short for Theophilus. Philo married Georgia Hall, as you’ve said. The information about Philo’s family is all new to me, so I was very glad to hear from you!
If you go to the Adgate web page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~halhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~hal and use the index to find Philo Adgate, you should be able to trace your family back to about 1650. If you have any problems, please let me know.
I would be very interested in any information you’ve found in the obituary or in the other clippings. If you could post them here, that would be great. Or I’d be glad to post them if you’d rather just send me a copy.
Thanks again for the note, and I look forward to hearing from you.
