OGUNQUIT, Maine - Thelma Perkins Adjutant, 87, of School Street, wife of Linwood G. Adjutant, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at the York Harbor Health Care Center at Sentry Hill after a brief illness.
She was born April 6, 1915, in Ogunquit, daughter of Sidney and Effie (Roberson) Perkins, and graduated from Wells High School.
After graduating from beauty school, she established Thelma?s Beauty Parlor at her residence. For many years, she was well-known in the area for Thelma's Yarn Shop, which was located in her home.
She was married for 63 years to her husband, Linwood, and they lived across the street from the home where she was raised. She was a member and very active in the York-Ogunquit Methodist Church. She was a great cook and an avid bridge player, with membership in many local bridge clubs. In later life, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and sightseeing across the country and abroad.
In addition to her husband, survivors include sisters-in-law, Patricia Langille of York and Mavis Wilson of South Portland; a brother-in-law, Clayton Adjutant of York Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Archer Perkins.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells, Maine. There are no visiting hours. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, York, Maine.
