This is very uncanny....I am a descendant of Matthew MOORE who was born between 1785 and 1790 in possibly Fluvanna Co., VA. I have heard from my grandmother for years say that we have Cherokee blood from this line. Matthew MOORE married Nancy BUTLER 1812, in Fluvanna Co.,VA. I am trying to find his parents to no avail. There is a John MOORE who married a Mollie BELLAMY, 1785 in Fluvanna Co., VA. Benjamin BELLAMY served as bond on the marriage license. Most of these BELLAMY descendants traveled the same path as the Matthew MOORE family did. From Fluvanna to Campbell Co., VA to Cabell Co., (W)VA. Would anyone know if I am on the right track to John MOORE and Mollie BELLAMY?
Permelia Ann MOORE, who was one of many ofchildren of Matthew and Nancy (BUTLER) MOORE. She married in 1830 Campbell Co., VA to Matthew LOFTIS, who may have been very well the son of Reuben LOFTIS, Sr. Matthew and Permelia LOFTIS moved to Henderson Co., NC after their 1st son, George B. LOFTIS was born. They spent about 18 years there until Matthew LOFTIS died there or enroute to (West) VA. Then the family came to Cabell Co., (W)VA to claim the Land Grant that was issued to Matthew MOORE'S heirs. One of Matthew and Permelia LOFTIS' daughter named, Louisa Adaline LOFTIS KERSEY, in 1906 filed a for a claim for the Cherokee Indians Application. But she was rejected for not providing enough proof.
Any help or opinions will be appreciated. Thank you.
