Roscoe Adkins, San Marcos, Texas c1923
My father's name was Roscoe Cullis Adkins. He was born in San Marcos, Texas, 20 February
1920, to Roscoe Cullis Adkins (Father's name on my father's birth certificate),and Loula Daisy Fisher (born 7-23-1880[+/-4yrs]). My grandmother followed Roscoe to a fort or military post in Michigan while my father was a baby. They returned to San Marcos, Texas between c1922-1923 where she and my father livedwith my great aunt Frances Fisher for many years in the Fisher family home on Comanche Street. The elder Roscoe Adkins disappeared when my father was three years old.
We have been unable to find out anything about him, mainly because my grandmother refused to speak of him. We know that he served in the military, rode a horse, and that he was tall. Efforts made to find military records have proven futile. We don't know where he was from, or who his parents were.
Also, there is no marriage certificate on file that we can locate. So, this could be a scandal!
There is a huge gap in our family tree that we would be ever so grateful to fill!We would like to know who our living relatives are.
Thank you for any hints or information you can supply.I will be happy to provide a
biography of my father for any who may be concerned. He was an only child, with four daughters and only one son, Thomas Fisher Adkins to maintain the family name.
With sincere appreciation,
Judith Lynn Adkins McSween
