Do you have any information on Robert or his children in Alabama?I suspect that this Robert is the father of one of my ancestors but I'm not sure.
My ggrandfather, John Bart Harris is the son of Robert and Nancy Adkins Harris who lived in Marion County Alabama.Nancy Adkins parents are listed on the 1850 Marion County Census as Robert and B. (the rest of the name is unreadable) Adkins.Robert was 36 at the time of the Census so his birthdate is c 1814.Nancy had a sister named Charity Emaline who married Reuben Shirey.Charity and Nancy's brother, Elijah also married into the Shirey family. The other names of the siblings that I can read are John and Mary Ann...there is one other name I can't make out.
Robert and Nancy had seven known children:Thadius Walker, Drusilla (Drucilla) Jane (who married Daniel Franklin Smith, Bethaney (also spelled Bethane and Bethene) who also married a Smith, Malinda, Sarah F., John Bart and Robert M.(b. 3 Oct 1865)
John Bart (b 12-25-1862, d. 3-8-1931), who went by Bart or Barte, married Belle McCollum from Fayette County( this family is well documented!).John Bart and Belle had 9 children.Luther, Walter Lee (who died 8-25-1888 as an infant and is buried in Marion County Alabama somewhere), Verah Vashti, Lena Nancy, Claud Deathrid (my grandfather), Mattie Mae, Bertie Bulah, Cleo Belle and John Bart. They moved to Texas in the 1890's and came here by way of Bells (Grayson county) Texas. They bought the land we live on in Cooke County, Texas on August 27, 1898.
Robert Harris' parents are Moses and Drucilla Walker Harris.
