John Ward Adkins came to Warren County, Missouri in 1833.John Ward and wife Herodias came to Henry County in 1856.They were farmers and had 5 children. They owned a great deal of land but gradually was devided up between all of the children of the children of John Ward and Herodias.Herodias and her immediate children and spouces are buried at Adkins Cemetery southwest of Clinton.John Ward is buried somewhere in Texas.John Ward fought in the Mexican-American War.They all seemed to have been fine, hard-working and family oriented people in the 1800's, but spread out as all families have with time and the automobile. It seems that most of the early Adkins in this country started in Virginia and had branched out to Missouri and beyond by mid 1800's.Please phone me at 1-800-451-3779 (my work)...you may have to refresh my memory. If you are related to the Henry County Adkins I will direct you to Adkins Cemetery etc.
