Hi, I'm not sure if it is a simple coincidence or not. When I saw the name Perry Green, I went to my database and found that my GG-grandmother, Mary P. Newby*, daughter of LeRoy Newby and Mahala (Springfield) Newby, married DeMarcus Roland Poole [Pettypoole/P'Pool/Pool] and named one of their sons "Perry Green Pool." They resided in Traveler's Rest, Greenville Co. SC.

According to research from a Poole cousin(Mary Poole Lassiter, 1935-1998), Leroy Newby, was the son ofWilliam Newby and Patsy ADKINS of Chesterfield Co., VA..

Demarcus and Mary had the following children:
LeRoy L., Annamaria Turpin, Franklin Pierce, Stephen Buchanan, William Robert, Perry Green, DeMarcus Rufus, Berry Furman, Thomas Adolphus, Elizabeth Benson (my g-grandmother), Viola Trulah, Walter Irvin, Charlie Roe, Daisy Dean and Ruth Maiden.

I recognize some of the names as family names, hence my question about Perry Green Pool.

Best wishes, Maureen Mead

*My grandmother's papers list Mary Newby as Mary SAMS Newby. I have no idea where she got the name "Sams" from--but the marriage announcement listed her name as "Miss Mary P. Newby,"

Mary's siblings were: William, Thomas, Franklin Perry, Mahala, Susan Jane and Minnie Evaline.

I'm curious about the Perry name appearing in my Southern line, because I'm also descended from the Cape Cod Perry family, through my RI Quaker Slocums.
