Hello, I don't know if you found your info or if this is even the same family but it looks pretty close it is long but I will try to post it all correctly;
Branham Family of Rock Castle Creek
David Branham, s/o Jonathan & Patsy (Elswick) Branham came to Lawrence Co. (KY) from Floyd Co. (??) around 1834 with his wife Betsy Adkins and 2 small children. Family legend says that they came down river to the point where the Big Sandy forms. It was at this place that a Mr. Wellman of Virginia sold them a tract of land on Rock Castle one and one-half miles above the falls of Tug River at Clifford, Ky.
The children of David and Betsy are as follows; 1)Henderson m. Mirinda Fluty
2)James Wilburn m. Julia Fitzpatrick
3) Benjamin m. Evelyn Fluty
4) Nancy m. 1st Endicott 2nd John Wallace
5) Lucinda m. Elias Baisden
6)Margaret m. Sam Pack
7) Ola Jane m. Solomon Wallace
8) Martha m. Jim Frazier
9) David Dolliver (Dol) m. Ellen Bow
10) Columbie m. 1st Endicott 2nd G.H. Shannon
These children stayed close to this area. Many are buried in the Branham Cemetery.
David was killed in March of 1857. Betsy married a Waller and lived until 1894. She was known years later as "Grandma Waller".
James Wilburn aka "Wibb" and his wife Julia Fitzpatrick d/o Burgess Fitzpatrick & Sara Ann Jerrett (Garred) were married at this place in 1854 and they were the parents of the following; 1)Sara Ann m. A.W. Crum
2) Mart (Killed by a fall from a horse at the age of 19)
3) Carilda m. Albert Copley
4) Bugess (Dies at the age of 9)
5) Elizabeth m. 1st Spurlock 2nd Frank Damron
6) Rebecca m. Garred Hammond
7) Lydia m. Dan Stansbury
8) Lyss m. Henrietta Vinson
9) Thursa m. Lige Hammond
10) Nancy m. Laben Fluty
Wibb married again after Julia's death in 1885, to a Jarrell and had more children.
The family suffered hard times and the land was to be sold for taxes. It is told in the family That Lyss, who had the store at the mouth of Vinson Branch (Ky. Side) bought the home site and 91 acres at auction - paying cash, a surprise to many.
Lyss & Henrietta spent the rest of their lives on Rock Castle.
They were the parents of 6 children; 1) Martin m. Edith Cornett
2) William Jennings (died at the age of 16)
3) Ellen (Died at the age of 3)
4)Zachery Taylor m. 1st Grace Damron 2nd Willie Cain
5) Carrie (died at the age of 3 months)
6) Millard Fillmore m. 1st Merica Skaggs 2nd Blanche Robinette
Millard Born late in his parents Life, left home at age 15. He boarded a train to run away - only to find his brother Taylor, was the brakeman on the train. Taylor took Millard back home, but he left again, joining the Navy and until his death in 1976 delighted in telling how he spent his 16th birthday on the Yangtze River in China.
The home place acquired in 1834 by the frist Branham to this area was sold in 1979. By Ruth Ellen Kelley (Story from the History of Lawrence Co. Ky. 1991)
