The DNA Print test is a self administered buccal test (scraping taken from inside of cheek) now available for anyone for a fee. This test documents scientifically the person's ancestory from major population groups e.g., Indo European, Am. Indian, Jewish(Cohanian), Asian, sub-Saharan African, etc. http://www.familytreedna.com/http://www.familytreedna.com/ has available a new DNA project to connect the DNA of individuals worldwide with the same surname scientifically. In reviewing information about this project, few surnames projects have been started because it takes some effort to form a surname project. For instance, they have only 8 projects with the initial A. The surname Adkins is not of them. There are 28 surnames under the initial M. Enrolled in the M group is a Melungen project which has 65 members. The surnames being tested are:Austin, Berry, Blevins, Boone, Bruce, Calwell, Campbell, Caudill, Chaffin, Christy, Cooper, Doug;as, Forbes, Givens, Gordon, Grimwood, Hale, Harry, Houston, Kennedy, Leslie, Locklaer,Moore, Morrison, Newberry, Panter-Yates, Perry, Ramey, Rumy, Saylor, Sizemore, Skeen, Stewart, Wallen, Wampler, Wolf.
The S groups have a Scottish Clan project but it appears there are only 16 members thus far and no website.
There is no misunderstanding of your post. I simply want to make available information re: scientific tests at our fingertips for documenting one's hertiage.
