I must admit I am VERY new to genealogy tracing. I know out there I have a very large family. Although, through the years, deaths and loss of contact we are not all that close. What little knowledge I do have...comes on behalf of my grandmother. She raised me from the age of 3 after my mother passed away.
My grandmother was that of:
BEULAH V. LARGE, daughter of Edward Large and Eliza Adkins. b. March 16, 1916 d. February 28, 1998 and buried March 1, 1998 in GreenWood Cemetary. m. COSSIE HEARL "EARL" ADKINS b. August 14, 1914 d. August 1975
Her siblings to my knowledge were: * Mary Large * Irene Stallard m. Webster Stallard. (Irene passed away when I was very young. Her husband in his late years remarried but, unable to recall his wife's name. He has since passed.) * Rufus Large m. Leafie (unable to recall her maiden name.) They lived in VA for many years. Then retired to ? Raliegh NC. I know they have a daughter by the name of Yvonne. Both visited often to my grandmother's home in Church Hill, TN. She moved there after my grandfather passed in 1975. Rufus has since passed and not sure about Leafie. * Ervin Large * Raymond Large * Maxie Dotson m. Ervin Dotson. They lived in Abingdon, VA. I remember visiting many times as a child to their home. I believe both have since passed.
My grandfather COSSIE HEARL "EARL" ADKINS has become interesting to try and trace. It has been discovered that at some point he changed his given middle name from Hearl to Earl. In what year -or- for what reason is unknown. Also, we have always been mistaken for the name ATKINS. And many would always make this mistake in text. I think this must be one reason for such mix ups. He worked for the railroad in the areas of Wise, Coeburn and Norton from marriage till death. He loved to build and work with wood. He made many cedar chests, grandfather clocks etc...
I know he has a brother named H.E. "Junior" Adkins still living in Coeburn VA. His wife's name is Edna. I still know where they live and in hopes of contacting them soon.
If anyone would care to share any info - I would greatly appreciate it. I would kindly repay the favor anyway I can. All I have at the moment are names in my head, memories and stories my grandmother would tell me.
Sorry this was so long... May God and His Angels Lead, Guide and Protect You..... Sincerely, Cynthia Ruth Adkins-Estes
