I've been following some of your post regarding Richard Atkins/Adkins of Surry County, VA.
I'm a descendant of Lewis Atkins/Adkins and Elizabeth Felts through their son Lewis Atkins born 1745 in Surry County, VA.The younger Lewis married Susannah Horn (daughter of James and Jean Horn). The younger Lewis also served in the American Revolution.
There are many researchers on this line however due to the lack of some records, we have a gap from the elder Lewis Atkins to the other Adkins/Atkins families in Surry County, VA.We believe, based on the availability of primary sources that the elder Lewis Atkins/Adkins was born circa 1725 in Surry County, VA and that he "may" have been the grandson of Thomas Atkins who died in 1711 in Surry County, VA.This Thomas had the following children according to a transcript of his will dated 1711; Thomas, Richard, William, John, Jane, wife of Joseph Harris Eliza (Elizabeth) wife of Thomas Dunn,Mary, and Rachell. His wife's name was Eliza.
There are ambiguities surrounding the generation of Lewis Atkins the elder as to his parents and grandparents.Based on primary documents and naming patterns, the Thomas mentioned above "may" possibly be the son of Richard and Joan Atkins.
If you have any knowledge of this family, your help is greatly appreciated.
