Hi Wiley,
I have seen the ALSTON surname connected somehow to my
WEELDONS, WHILDENS, WHELDONS, and BROWNS, and have yet
to look into the OWENS surname.
Somehow, the WEEDEN spelling connects and I find many
Black WEEDENS listed in Alachua, FL, BUT, thus far, no one
claims kinship to my line.
Believe my ggrandfather, WM LAWRENC WEELDON, Black, was a
slave of the WHEELDON/WHILDEN family of Christ Church and
Sumter, SC; he was born in 1829, but so far, ALL efforts to trace any family has been a deadend.
Am currently in touch w/WHILDEN descendants, but their knowledge of slave info is unknown.
The given name of MARINA, I find a few times w/WILDON,WILDEN, so think it may be a favorite family name.
This line of mine is definitely a challenge.
Warm regards,
carol.
