Mary Adkisson Still & Elvira dtrs. Wm.-
I am seeking information concerning my gggrandmother Elvira, wife of Jacob Keister, and Jacob Keisterof Sevier CountyArkansas.
Jacob first married Mary Ann Adkisson Still.
Mary Ann (born in TN 1818) was the widow of Henry M. Still of Sevier County AK. They married May 26, 1842.They had a daughter Emmaline(born 1840 in Arkansas)(Emmaline grew up and married George W. Cowling around 1858). Henry died, and Jacob then married Mary Ann.They had five children: John Frederick, 1845. James Wesley, 1846, George W. born 1848, Elizabeth M., born 1850, and Martha J. born 1852.Mary Ann died around 1854-1856.
Jacob Keister then married Mary Ann's sister,Elvira,Mar. 3, 1858. It is believed that Elvira died giving birth to my ggrandfather, William Henry Keister.
Elvira and Mary Ann's sister Permelia Adkisson brought my ggrandfather to Texas for safety, just before the Battle of Arkansas Post 1863 to live with their oldest sister Elizabeth Adkisson Choate in Karnes County.
Any information to help me trace Elvira or Jacob Keister would be greatly appreciated.I am especially interested in finding where Jacob came from.
