Hello Gary...I have in my Adney family archives (from my wife's grandfather, Edwin Tappan Adney) (Thomas, John, Jonathan, W. H. G.) some meager information about Thomas, son of Thomas. I quote: "Thomas Adney (Thomas) b. 'about 1780 or a little after' in Virginia. He married, in Virginia, Mary Rose b. 1780; d. in Tennessee in 1857 aged 71. He left Virginia about 1820 and settled Knox Co., Tenn. Children, from the Tennessee record: 1. Charles b. 1803 2. Betty b. about 1805 d. 1883 3. William 4. Richmond b. about 1818 no further record 5. George Washington b. 1822 6. Mary b. 1835; d. 1900 Tenn. 7. Campbell Wallace b. Aug. 9 1830
"Charles and William disappear from knowledge of the Tennessee family, and further knowledge of them is derived from the family of Daniel Adney of Indiana, their uncle, and that John of Ohio. According to the widow of Daniel, both brothers, with families, were known to her. They had gone to the lead mines at Galena, Illinois, and made fortunes...."
I have more about Charles, but too much for here. I will transcribe it to the computer and email it to you.
Tappan Adney interviewed Daniel's widow in 1904, just before she died.
When I get a chance, I will transcribe all of this material that Tappan Adney gathered and wrote down about 1921. Mary Alice Claycombe Adney had this information available to her when she wrote her book in 1986. Tappan has information about the first Thomas in North Carolina and Virginia.
