I have been handed a very patchy start to my family tree and am trying to figure out how to proceed.
My mother's maiden name is Patricia Kathryn Adolph and she was born in 1927 in Liverpool. Her Father was Charles Ernest Fredrich Adolph and his father was Charles Peter Jacob Adolph (born in 1866 in Liverpool). Charles Peter was married to Lucy Alice Clague, born 26 May 1867 in Onchan, IOM. Lucy died 2nd March 1931.
Lucy's parents were Fritz Friebus, born in Germany in 1838, he married Janetta Clague in June 1873, she was born in August 1847 in Douglas. I dont understand why their daughter kept her mothers name as a suname and was not a Friebus? Fritz and Janetta had three other children who all had their father's surname, Fritz (1875), Charlotte (1878) and Robert C. (Sept 1880)
Janetta's parents were John Clague and Charlotte Ellenor Gelling. I have no further information about these two.
Many of my mothers Aunts lived in the IOM. and they were Adolph s.
This information may or may not be helpful . If it ties in with any information that would help me then I would much appreciate some feedback. As I mentioned I am very much a beginner and would welcome any advise
