Dear Kathy! I thank God to have found you! My name is Xochitl Alvarado Affantranger (the "X" from my first name is pronounced as an "S"). I am 52 years old and I have one brother and one sister. I am mexican and we use both last names here. I'm affraid I don't have much information about my grandfather. The only thing that I know is that his name was Joseph (Jose) Affantranger and came to Mexico from the United States (I don't know what year). I have one photo of him, maybe two. He married (I don't have documents) to Raquel Rovira and died. I don't know when or how. Some people think he was killed because of problems with a mine(?) he owned. This was before my mother was born (January 6, 1914). So she was the only child. My grandmother died when my mother was five years old and left my mother to live with her uncle Julio. He couldn't deal with a child, so her aunt Carmen took her to live with her family. Unfortunately my mom past away on 1985, but I am sure she would feel as happy as I am to know that I am getting in contact with you.
I am pretty sure we are related because it is a very uncommon last name and the coincidence of the name Joseph and Switzerland>USA. My hypothesis is that Josephine, Joseph Affantranger and Josephine's daughter had a son. Maybe he had another son who was my grandfather that came to Mexico, originally perhaps to Orizaba or Puebla.
I would really like to know the details you already know and if possible to give me your telephone number to get in contact with you. Mine is: (52)(777)1191643. My address is: Paseo del Conquistador No. 917, casa 19. Lomas de Cortes. CP 62240. Cuernavaca, Mor. Mexico.
I am looking forward for your answer. Love, Xochitl.
