Jerry L. Affolter, 66, of West Lafayette, O., died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, in Aultman Hospital at Canton, O.
He was born March 21, 1936, in Rio Honda, Texas, a son of the late Mary (Baker) Affolter and Leo B. Affolter. He attended Newcomerstown High School. He retired after 31 years as foreman for LTV Steel Union Drawn Division of Massillon. He also worked 12 years for P.W.M. ? Precision Woodworking Material of Newcomerstown. He currently was working at Newcomerstown Elks Lodge as custodian and maintenance.
He was a Methodist by faith and was a member of Newcomerstown Elks Lodge No. 1555, Coshocton Moose and Coshocton VFW.
Surviving is his wife, Bonnie Taylor Affolter, whom he married April 18, 1959. Also surviving are one daughter, Debbie Affolter Fornash of Newcomerstown; two sons, Dave Affolter and wife Shelly of Bolivar and Duane Affolter and wife Sarah of West Lafayette; five grandchildren, Trisha and Eric Affolter, Bonnie Fornash, and Taylor and Tess Affolter; three brothers, Francis Affolter of Canton, Terry Affolter of Newcomerstown and Paul (Edna) Affolter of Coshocton; two sisters, Betty Troendley of North Canton and Leona Fockler of Stone Creek; special mother-in-law, Mazel Taylor of Guernsey; several nieces and nephews; and special pet, Daisey.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Affolter.
Services will be held in Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Joel Adkins officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown, O. Calling hours are at Addy Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, between 6 and 9 p.m.
