Kaye,
apologies for not answering earlier, I must have missed the notification of your post.
I have now virtually confirmed that May Agar married Jocelyn Thomas, as Walter Agar is 'of Logis Estate, Talawakelle, Ceylon' in the Plantagenet Roll of the Blood Royal and Jocelyn Thomas is "of Talawakelle, Ceylon" in 1915 (his father's obituary).
The Plantagenet Roll, Clarence volume p. 397 mentions Walter James Agar, married 1873 to Barbara Marria Roper Finley, and 3 children only: Walter James (1876), Rope Shelton(1878) and Annie Eliza Susan (no date).
But if you look at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustine_William_Shelton_Agar#Victoria_Crosshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustine_William_Shelton_Agar#Victoria_Cross
you will find an Augustus Agar V.C. who must be the younger brother of the family: "Augustus Agar was born in Kandy , Ceylonon January 4 , 1890He was the thirteenth child of an Irishman from County Kerrywho had left his native land in 1860 to become a successful tea planter in Ceylon. Agar's mother died shortly after his birth and at the age of eight he was sent with one of his brothers to school in England. Soon after his father died when he contracted cholera during a visit to China."
Any ideas on this one?
As for the Cameron family, I regret I have no trace of Blairs or Gipson. As far as I understand, Hood was a place where Mrs. H.H.Cameron (née Adeline Blake)was staying at the time. Julia Margaret Cameron (née Pattle) was an English photographer whose work dated from 1864 to the 1870s; she was known especially for her portraits. Born and raised in India, she continued to live in Calcutta after her marriage in 1838 to the jurist Charles Hay Cameron; from 1846-1875 they lived in England, and then in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) until their deaths. Their son, Hardinge Hay Cameron, was private secrtary to Sir William Gregory, governor of Ceylon from 1872-77. He married Catherine Macintosh Macleod (known as Kitty) in 1879 or 1880, and later married Adeline Blake, daughter of George Pilkington Blake. Another son, Henry Herschel Hay Cameron, was also a photographer.
