Do you know anything about David Hudson or if there is any relationship to the Agards? The History of Audrain Co., MO (St. Louis: Nat. Hist. Co., 1884) p747 has a biographical sketch on my Gideon G(ranger) Galloway. It says Gideon Galloway "...married a lady at the residence of Mr. David Hudson, in Hudson, Ohio, by the name of Miss Arletta Agard..."
A reply I received in 1983 from The Hudson Library and Historical Society said Gideon was a friend and co-worker of David Hudson Jr. who kept a diary that is now in their collection. Between 6 Aug. 1833 and 11 Sept. 1835 there are a number of entries that refer to Gideon Galloway & Arletta Agard. There is also one for James Agard. On 4 June 1834 David Hudson Jr. visited the home of James Agard in Dresden, Muskingum Co., OH. On 21 July 1834 he says G. G. Galloway and his wife returned from Dresden. Then on 11 Sept. 1835 it says "Gideon G. Galloway has moved to Maumee [Lucas Co., OH]. He went from Cuyahoga Village [Cuyahoga Falls] to his father-in-law's, was there a short time, and about three weeks ago, he removed." This is the last Galloway entry in the diary.
The Archivist at the Hudson Library and Historical Society thought that the Galloways and Hudsons were probably not related. He said that in 1834 there was no Methodist Episcopal Church in Hudson and that the Hudson house was an informal inn and stagecoach stop, so it would not be unusual for a marriage to take place there. The diary had said that Gideon and Arletta were married "in the Methodist Episcopal form by Rev. Luccook."
These earlier deeds you found make me wonder if this needs more study.
Perrin's History of Summit Co., OH shows that David Hudson was from Goshen, CT.
