On pg. 271 of The Agee Register by Louis N. Agee, is listed Joshua Agee No. 13, referring to the 24 children of the two Agee sons of the immigrant Mathieu Agee (James and Anthony.) Joshua ( son of Anthony) b.1-4-1757 Buckingham Co., VA. d. 12-?1837 Wilkes Co., GA. Sold VA land and moved to Wilkes Co, GA in 1797. He served in the Rev. War.
On 4-10-1834, Lincoln Co., GA, Col. Thomas Murray declares he knew Joshua Agee, formerly of Lincoln Co, now of Wilkes Co.On 11-5-1835, Wilkes Co., GA, James Burditt says he has known Joshua Agee since 1780 when Burditt lived with his father in Bedford Co., VA.He moved with his father to GA in 1784.In 1797 he carried a wagon load of cotton to VA and on his return moved Joshua Agee and family to Wilkes Co.20-10-1835 Lincoln Co., GA Mary (X) Howard, in her 60th year declares that she, Clary Crim and Nancy Wynn are the only living children of Joshua Agee who moved to GA in 1797 and died in Wilkes Co., Dec. 1837.His wife died in 1835. (The first time her name appears in the declaration, HOWARD is corrected to DOWNS; it appears as HOWARD subsequently.Rejected because no rolls in pension office showed his name.It has been written without verification that Joshua Agee m. Sarah Ann Bondurant, dau. of Peter and Amy Bondurant. Issue:Mary Agee m. Howard and/or Downs Clary Agee m. Crim. Nancy Agee m. Wynn John Agee Zackery Agee William Washington Agee, b. 1-27-1835
This last son would have been born when his dad was 78. Notice the wife died in 1835.
Notes from Wilkes Co., GA land lottery of 1803 have Joshua Agee with 2 draws and Humphrey Agee with 1 draw. Barthena Agee married Jacob ______ Dec. 21, 1831.
