I do not know of a Joshua AGEE in my AGEE line, but I am very interested in your AGEE genealogy for this reason. I do have ANDREWS (Anders), PULLEN, HOUSE, GILL and more lines that were in Wilkes and Lincoln Co GA. My direct line Michael Lathem ANDREWS and wife Parthenia PULLEN (Pullin) and their family (see 1850 census LIncoln Co GA) and George HOUSE the overseer of the 1850 household (mar Parthenia ANDREWS b 1835 GA) all left 1856 and went to St Francis / Monroe Co AR.
It is on that ANDREWS / ANDERS line from Parthenia b 1835 GA that I have the AGEE connection.Parthenia's 3rd marriage to Dillard L. COOPER b 1838 Spartanburg, Thickety SC, produced a daughter Clara COOPER b 1878 Monroe Co (Brinkley) AR. She married 1898 there to William David McLAIN b 1859 Lawrence Co AR ...they are my great grandparents.
William David McLAIN was born to John HEnry McLAIN b 1835-37 over in Weakley Co TN (to Charles & Perlina A. McLAIN) who came with their children before the 1850 census over to Lawrence County Arkansas. (See 1850 census, Strawberry township).John Henry McLAIN married 1857 Lawrence Co AR to Sarah Catherine AGEE b 1842 TN (maybe Roane Co) a daughter of William AGEE b abt 1814 TN (Bledsoe Co I think) and wife Leanah / Leannah HARVEY b about 1820 timeframe in TN.William AGEE and wife Leannah (her name spelled many ways, even Georganna once) have not been found 1850 census, but in 1840 were down in Hamilton Co TN, however before that there were in Roane Co TN.
William was a son of Ambrose Ambers AGEE and wife Elizabeth LUSK that left East TN and went to Missouri, settling in Texas Co / Dent, MO.William is mentioned in his will as "William of Laurence AR, b 1814" ...Sarah Catherine AGEE and John Henry McLAIN are my gg grandparents. William AGEE and Leanah HARVEY are my ggg grandparents, making Ambrose AGEE and Elizabeth LUSK my gggg grandparents.
William AGEE died 1862 in Lawrence Co AR and his wife Lenah / Leannah is found in the 1880 household of another child son Michael H. AGEE b about 1839 in either TN or GA ..no doubt down on that TN border that was not clearly defined at the time.I have not been able to track the LUSK line of his mother Elizabeth. She died in Texas Co MO.
Interesting, I have other maternal lines that were in Weakley Co TN and also in Texas Co MO.Callaway "Cal" HARDIN b GA and wife Louisa Ann / Louisiana McKENZIE (McKinsey, etc) were 1840 and 1850 in Weakley Co TN.His father was Mark HARDIN married to a Nancy Toney CALAWAY/ Calloway, etc spellings). The "TONEY" name appears but is not proven as her maiden name. This is a HARDIN line that is enormous and tracks back to Virginia early, where so many of our lines were prior to migrating into KY, the Carolinas, TN, etc. and across the Deep South.
Regarding the John Henry McLAIN that married Sarah Catherine AGEE, John's younger brother Squire b 1842 Weakley Co TN married 1861 Lawrence Co AR to Caroline HARDIN b 1836-44 timeframe TN, a daughter of Calaway "Cal" HARDIN and Louisiana McKINZIE. They left Weakley Co TN sometime after 1850 census and went to Missouri, where in 1860 Cal has died and Louisiana is in Texas, Morris, MO and later lives with her son George in MO.
Caroline HARDIN's older sister Seletha Jane HARDIN also moves to Lawrence Co AR / Independence Co and marries to a John CHILDERS / CHILDRES before her sister Caroline marries Squire McLAIN.A brother Joseph HARDIN and wife also live in Lawrence Co AR.
Soooo, as you can see all these lines link together in crazy, convoluted ways.If I follow them back, I end up in Virginia where there are McLAINs/ McCLAINs / MACLINs / MACKLINs, etc. and HARDINs (Hardwyn, Hardouin, etc), AGEE, and on and on ...including DUGGERs ...who appear in almost every southern line I think. Huge family. They figure into my maternal lines through marriage in at least 4 different marriages, maybe more. Not only that, we have an Exact 67 marker DNA match on the FTDNA Clan MacLEAN (McLAIN) DNA project with the DUGGERs that were mid 1700s in Surrey / Brunswick Co Virginia.
I would like to hear from you to see if you and I have any common threads in our genealogy.Especially to learn if we have Wilkes / Lincoln Co lines. Right now I am unaware of any AGEEs of mine that might have been there ..but it is quite possible mine connect to that branch. Other lines of interest are MOON, MEAD / MEADE, WILLIS, GILL, as well as the ANDREWS, HOUSE, PULLEN / PULLIN lines and COOPERs (who were in NC and SC before spreading out ..another huge family.
