I just saw this posting - I've been trying to connect Matthew with the correct family for some time.I had seen mention of him in the Cumberland County will abstract of John (1783), but had no proof that he was the correct one.My direct line is Ritchey/Ritchie, through Nancy's brother Adam (1761) who m. Abigail Dill.
Nancy Ritchey, who m. Matthew Agnew, was b. 7 Dec 1759, Cumberland County PA, daughter of Adam Ritchey and Agness Nancy Bolton of Middleton Township, Cumberland County PA.I have that Nancy died 1807 in Cumberland County.
Thomas Ritchey, brother of Nancy, b. 1765/1767, Cumberland County PA, d. ca 1799, Cumberland County PA, m. Jane Hanna; m/2 Josiah White after 1797.
I haven't been able to collect much on this Ritchey family - actual dates and what happened to them all.I've had a lot of this original information for some time, and no one seems to have found anything new.The children of Adam and Agness (Bolton), except for the first 2 born in Ireland, were born in Cumberland County PA from 1756, Thomas being the youngest.
If you want more on the Ritcheys, I'd be glad to send.I'm going to check my info on Agnews to see where I can connect it all.I've been collecting early Agnew data.Their family seems to be connected in many ways to my extended family in the same areas, and I've managed to connect my line several times "through the back door," so to speak.I have been to the Marsh Creek Cemetery and found many familiar names. That was quite a trip.
