Dear Debbie,In doing my own genealogy I think that I have come across one of your Agnew family members who married into mine.I have a W. Joseph (Joe)Agnew, a watchmaker and jeweler who died at Wingham, Ontario, Canada, on December 27,2001.He was 74 years of age at the time of his death. He married a Dean E. White in 1950 and had three daughters Judy (Jim) Lukas of Wixom, Michigan, Pam Agnew of Lucknow, and Joanne (Bill) McGregor of Calgary. His date of death in this newspaper obit is December 27, 2001 at Wingham and District Hospital. He was born September 28, 1928 to Howard and Margaret (McCullough) Agnew in Kincardine, Bruce County Ontario, Canada to Howard and Margaret (McCullough) Agnew.Funeral service was help at the MacKenzie and McCeath Funeral Home in Lucknow and he was buried in Greenhill Cemetary in Lucknow.
Margaret Helen Agnew of Brucelea Haven, formerly of Lucknow. died in the County of Bruce General Hospital in Walkerton on Sunday, June 15, 1980 in her 76th year. The former Margaret McCullough, she was married to Howard Agnew of Brucelea Haven, formerly of Lucknow. Born in Kincardine on July 19, 1904, she was a daughter of the late William McCullough and the late Margaret Harvey. She is survived by her husband, one son, Joe of Lucknow, three grandchildren, Judy Lukas of Walled Lake, Michigan, Pam Agnew of Worsley, Alberta and JoAnne Agnew of Lucknow, Two great-grandchildren Michele and Kevin Lukas also survive.
I didn't put the entire obit here, but Margaret Harvey McCullough Agnew is my great-great aunt. She is related to my paternal grandfather whose father was born in Kincardine. Her younger brother Clarence, my great-grand-father, came to the US where his children,grand-children, and great grandchildren were born.He died and is buried here in the US.I don't have a whole lot on this family, but I am interested in its Irish roots. It is my understanding that this family are Northern Ireland Protestants, according to the Canadian records, but rather than being Irish they would be close to Scottish, am I right?????Yours, Kimberly Princing
