I checked out the Family Tree DNA Project, they have several projects for the surname AGNEW.
Will it do any good for my male AGNEW cousin to submit to SCOTTISH PROJECT if my AGNEW ancestor came from IRELAND or ENGLAND?
I do not know the name of the father of my g.g. grandfather LEVI AGNEW b. 1803 in Huntingdon County, Pa. The 1880 census states his father was born in ENGLAND. There were two male Agnew's living in Huntingdon Co., Pa. when LEVI AGNEW was coceived, JOHN AGNEW born14 Apr 1777 in Adams Co., Pa. (married Elizabeth Park). John Agnew's grandfather was born in IRELAND, and the other was a DANIEL AGNEW b. ca 1775 who came from Belfast, IRELAND. I know of a male who descends from Daniel AGNEW but none who descend from JAMES AGNEW b. 31 Jul 1711 in IRELAND, m. REBECCA SCOTT who would contribute to the DNA Project.
