My husband family name is Garner, but his DNA, to our great surprise and puzzlement, matches the Agnews. His great-great-grandfather was Absalom Garner (1801-1865) born in Darlington SC, migrated to Lowndes County Alabama, died in Conecuh County AL. We cannot get further back than that. We know there was an Absalom Garner in Darlington, SC who would have been about the right age to be his father. And the question still remains, how and where did an Agnew boy-child become a Garner? My husband is definitely NOT a Garner. I know there were Agnews and Garners both in SC. Anybody have any insight?
