Would there have been an earlier connection between Ninian Adair and the Agnew family and the Douglas family please.i.e.
Burke's Landed Gentry, 1852 edition -
Adair of Bellgrove.
"Sir William Adaire, who m. Juliana, dau. of Sir R. Douglas, brother of the Earl of Dumbarton, and had a son and successor,
Sir Robert Adaire, who m. Anne, dau. of Sir John Campbell, 2nd brother of the Lord of Argyle & Lorne, and was s. by his son,
Ninian Adaire, who m. Elizabeth, dau. of John Hamilton, viceroy of Albany, and was s. by his son,
William Adaire, Esq., who m. Jane, dau. of R. Lindsay, Earl of Crawford.
We have established that Ninian Adair married Miss. Agnew c. ......
Perhaps it was a first or second marriage.
Then we get the puzzle of the Agnew / Adair / Campbell / Douglas connection in the following:
Reg. of the Great Seal of Scotland, Vol. II, A.D.1424-1513, page 40, number 183, dated 10th November 1426 at Perth (in latin) -

Was Agnew the Sheriff who wrote and filed the document, or was he related ?
Would Mergrete ducisse Turonie be the Duchess of Tyrone ?
Any help with the Douglas & Agnew connection would be appreciated.
