firstly my condolences to New Yorkers and Americans-
I have been reading in 'The Book of the Agnews' by Mary Virginia Agnew- about Captain Andrew Agnew who sailed the Ulster pilgrim ship Eaglewing in 1636. It left from Lochfergus- I take to be Carrickgergus, Co Antrim.140 presbyterians on board led by William Wallace and John Livingston. The ship started leaking off NewFoundland and returned to Ulster. Later in the book a Capt Andrew Agnew is at sea again 1689 and aims his 4 cannon at Lord Duleek's horse and rescues 78 presbyterians. He is the brother of Patrick Agnew of Galdenoch-seehttp://www.caledoniancastles.co.uk/castles/galloway/galdenoch.htmhttp://www.caledoniancastles.co.uk/castles/galloway/galdenoch.htm gggrandfather Gilbert Agnew- second son of Andrew Agnew of Locknaw killed at the Battle of Pinkie. I believe I may be descended from the Capt Agnew-- I will write some more later. Any info?
