[sent September 11th]
Today is September 11th. On this day six years ago, two Aherns went off to
work in the morning, like they did every day, and never came home. One
worked in a tall building that became an inferno. The other went into
burning buildings as part of his job. They were just two of many who lost
their lives that day. See http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ah9-11.htmhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~aherns/ah9-11.htm
for their memorial.
The Ahern Obituary pages have now passed the 3,450 mark. The earliest new
obituary is for Garrett Ahern of Taunton, Minnesota, December 1897. The
most recent new obituaries are for Michael Aherne of Mallow and Maureen
"Nora" Ahern of Glanmire, County Cork, the fourth anniversary of whose
deaths were memorialized 9 September 2007.
