I'm pretty sure we're related! Another relative of ours is Jay Ahl, who posted on this board below on 3/23/01, but I haven't been able to get in touch with him. He mentions Bickenbach, too.
This is basically what I know. I can send you a GEDCOM file of this stuff if you'd like.
My great-grandfather, Jay Ahl, married Jennie Watt Copeland in Allegheny County, PA. Jennie was the granddaughter of the great inventor James Watt. Her sister was Emma, and supposedly there was some sort of connection to the prominent Ewing family of PA, although I'm not exactly sure how (but "Ewing" is everyone's middle name!).
They moved to New York and had two kids, my grandmother Mary Jane Ahl (1893-1938) and my great-uncle Charles Ahl. Charles Ahl married Mae, and they had two kids, Charles Ahl, Jr. and Evelyn.
I think that the Jay Ahl who posted is Charles Ahl, Jr.'s kid, but I'm not sure.
As for me, my grandmother Mary Jane Ahl married Sigurd Iversen and had Robert Jay, Mary Jane, and my father William Ewing.
I hope this helps! Please let me know any information you might have to fill in any gaps. I didn't know about this whole Bickenbach thing, for example, until I read it online.
