Johan Ahlgren (~1850-1885) married Emma Karlsdotter (~1850-1925) about 1870 in Sweden. They and their 2 children, (my great-grandmother) Johanna Alfreda (1871, Stockholm-04/01/1946, Tucson, AZ) and Fred C. Green (~1875-???) left for the US in 1885. (I'm unsure how Fred Green fits into the family.)
Johan died in Germany while they were enroute to the US. Emma and the children settled near Lemont, IL, where she married Andrew Johnson in about 1885. Emma and Andrew had daughter Hildur Dorothy Johnson (01/07/1886, Lemont, IL-03/06/1956, Tucson, AZ). Just to make things more complicated, Hildur Johnson married Herman Johnson in about 1910.
Johanna supposedly came to the US on a cattle boat and was quarantined for a period of time due to anthrax on the boat.
I can find no records of entry for Emma or Johanna.
