I am sure that this is a long shot, but am interested in finding out about this family.
We are descendants of Samuel Aiken (d. 1826, Guysborough, Nova Scotia). He was a Loyalist, who left New York City in 1784, the last to depart, with the Associated Departments of the Army and Navy.I have found a Samuel Aiken with a house for sale in NYC in 1779, but there is no guarantee that this is the same man.New York was a mecca for Loyalists, and living there meant that one could have come from anywhere!
However, his eldest son was named Robert, and with a sister Elizabeth, was alive in 1784 when the family of Samuel, wife Elizabeth, two children and a slave arrived in Nova Scotia.
I have tried to find all the Samuel Aikens that there are, and so far have eliminated everyone. Not Maryland. Not Virginia. Not New Hampshire. However, we found an unsubstantiated story this year that wife Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Redden, a descendant of William Penn, which night lead one to think about Pennsylvania.
Do you have any information about your Robert Aiken's brothers?
