Whereas most of Robert of Ireland's children with known birtdates are from 1790 to about 1810, and whereas this family all seemed to move to Ohio, James b 1821 is perhaps not of this family, but until it is proven, anything is possible ...
There is another line of Aikins with this same spelling that come from a costal New England town - details escape me at the moment - seems like they had some members that migrated toward PA. Perhaps this might be a more productive area to research if you are looking for earlier connections.
